Farooq Ahmad Sheikh is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Kashmir. His research spans literary theory, psychoanalysis, postcolonial studies, and philosophy, with particular interest in questions of subjectivity, ideology, and subversion. His work approaches literature not merely as representation or cultural commentary but as a space where freedom, experience, and the limits of meaning become visible. He has written on Indian English fiction and postcolonial writing, engaging issues of power, marginality, and liberation. His current research also explores the relationship between psychoanalysis, mysticism, and non-Western intellectual traditions, while reflecting on the evolving role of the humanities in the age of emerging technologies. Alongside literary studies, he has worked in linguistics and language-related research and has published in internationally indexed journals.
